HCAT and Tykes Teaching Alliance are delighted to introduce Unit 5, a unique professional learning space within our not-for-profit organisation.
For the past 10 years, HCAT, a successful multi-academy trust across Barnsley, and Tykes Teaching Alliance, a leading professional development provider, have worked collaboratively with a shared moral purpose: to ensure that young people achieve their full potential and have access to the best educational opportunities, regardless of background or ability.
Building on this success, we are now expanding our impact through a new social enterprise, providing professional learning spaces to support the work of public and voluntary sector organisations across Barnsley.
Unit 5 offers an affordable, enjoyable and fully equipped environment for professional development. Our goal is for Barnsley’s workforce to feel invested in, respected and valued when engaging with training and professional learning.
To support public and voluntary sector organisations, we offer a 25% discount, enabling them to invest more in the content and facilitation of their learning programmes, ultimately having a greater impact on the communities they serve.
Unit 5 is located within Cliffe Court Business Park, just off Junction 37 of the M1, and a five-minute walk from Dodworth train station. Several hotels are nearby for overnight accommodation. Free on-site parking is available, and all spaces are fully accessible.
We have four professional learning spaces, accommodating everything from small meetings to larger conferences of up to 72 delegates. Each space features:
Top-of-the-line, multi-platform technology and equipment
High-speed free guest Wi-Fi, HD projectors, iPads, sound system and video conferencing
Complimentary training resources: flip charts, whiteboards, pens, post-it notes, scissors and fully stocked facilitator kits
On-site team support for setup and additional requirements

Unit 5’s modern décor includes subtle nods to Barnsley’s cultural heritage, featuring a stunning mural by South Yorkshire artist Adam Briscoe. Collaboration is not just encouraged—it’s celebrated here!
