Tykes Teaching Alliance works in partnership with Exchange Teacher Training to deliver high‑quality, school‑led Initial Teacher Training (ITT) across South Yorkshire.
Exchange Teacher Training, accredited by Delta Academies Trust, delivers ITT in South Yorkshire in partnership with Tykes Teaching Alliance. Delta and its partners have longstanding, proven track record in delivering high quality Initial Teacher Training, and many are at the forefront of developments in teaching practice and professional learning nationally.
Our trainees in South Yorkshire benefit from local placement schools, across a range of high performing multi-academy trusts and local authority schools. Weekly training is held at The Laurel Academy in Mexborough, Doncaster. The induction conference and secondary subject sessions will take place at other locations in Yorkshire, including the Education Exchange Conference Centre in Knottingley, West Yorkshire.
Exchange Teacher Training offers an ambitious, evidence‑informed programme designed to develop reflective practitioners who inspire the next generation and improve life chances for all learners.
As a Lead Delivery Partner, Tykes Teaching Alliance provides local expertise in Barnsley, managing recruitment and coordinating placements in credible local schools. Trainees receive personalised feedback and support, ensuring their progress and well‑being remain central to their training journey.

The PGCE is delivered and awarded by Sheffield Hallam University, a nationally recognised centre of excellence for teaching and learning.
Our curriculum is designed by outstanding serving school leaders in partnership with Evidence Based Education, using the Great Teaching Toolkit and Model for Great Teaching. Trainees benefit from a rich, evidence‑based approach delivered by national and regional experts, equipping them with the skills to thrive in tomorrow’s classrooms and an ever‑changing world.
