This CPD programme is fully funded by the Barnsley Schools Alliance Board. There is no charge to schools to participate and no limit to the number of people you can book on.

In June 2020, the University College London’s Institute of Education reported that during lockdown, one in five pupils
in the UK – equating to around 2.3 million children, either did no home learning at all or less than one hour a day. Upon return, some children will have spent 20 weeks away from school with little or no engagement in academic studies. This 2 x 2 hour programme will:
Provide Middle Leaders with support and training to identify the issues that some children may face
when re-engaging in academic study.
Help teachers to identify ways to adapt their classroom environment, daily timetable and teaching to
support children in overcoming difficulties in re-engaging with learning and explore strategies that can be used
to support children’s cognitive recovery in the classroom.
Following an initial 2 hour training
period, Middle Leaders will be provided with training materials to disseminate in their own school. Throughout the
academic year, there will be access to a virtual platform to network and share ideas with colleagues in other schools
and access support from the facilitators..
