Following the evaluation of the LA’s audit of reading comprehension, the
Barnsley Schools’ Alliance is offering a series of professional development
days for English leaders and headteachers to help shape their in-school staff
training. This comprehensive training series is designed to deepen
understanding of reading comprehension and its connection to writing,
oracy, and assessment. It is structured with six sessions across the academic
year, each with a planning component and a focus on one of the three key
pillars: context, syntax, and structure.
