PROGRAMME OVERVIEW / DATES AND TIMES / VENUE

Supporting SEND pupils in the mainstream classroom
This session will explore the recommendations within the EEF guidance report with a specific focus on the 5 high quality teaching strategies which teachers can employ to support learning and improve outcomes for all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs. Case studies from schools will be used to demonstrate theory into practice. A range of tools and
resources will be shared, including a useful whole school audit tool.

Spring Term
Improving social and emotional learning in primary schools & Improving behaviour in schools.
This session will explore the importance of explicit SEL teaching strategies, how to develop an effective SEL curriculum and the importance of a whole school approach. A case study which highlights one school’s approach to developing SEL will be shared. The session will explore a range of proactive and reactive approaches, which are supported by evidence, including whole
school and targeted approaches to meet individual needs. Useful tools and resources will be shared to support schools in evaluating and reviewing current practice.

Summer Term
Making the best use of Teaching Assistants
This session will explore a range of approaches to ensure the effective deployment of teaching assistants in everyday classroom
contexts as well as in delivering targeted interventions, ensuring that there are explicit connections made between the two. A
range of practical tools and resources, designed by schools, will be shared.

Session 1 – 24th April 2024 – 9.30am -12.30pm
Session 2 – 12th June 2024- 9.30am -12.30pm

All sessions will run face to face at: The Fairway and Bluebell Conference Suite, Elmhurst Lane, Dodworth, Barnsley, S754LS
