About Tykes Teaching Alliance (Tykes TA)
Founded in 2014, Tykes Teaching Alliance (Tykes TA) began as a collaboration between Hoyland Common Primary School and High View Primary Learning Centre, with the aim of driving Initial Teacher Training (ITT), Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and School-to-School Support across Barnsley and the wider South Yorkshire region. Tykes TA delivers high-quality Initial Teacher Training in partnership with Exchange Teacher Training.
Our alliance is guided by a strong moral purpose: to ensure that every young person can fulfil their potential and access the best educational opportunities, regardless of background or ability. We strive for excellence in teaching, learning, and wellbeing, and believe that collaboration is key to sustainable improvement.
Tykes TA is built on the strong relationships we share with our partners. We work with schools across all sectors and localities, as well as professional partners from higher education, multi-academy trusts, initial teacher training providers, curriculum hubs, local authorities, and partner teaching school alliances. Our approach is open, collaborative, and inclusive, valuing the contribution of every organisation within our network.
We believe that enjoyment in learning is fundamental, and that by working together, we can achieve more.
