Professional support staff in schools play an increasingly important role in supporting effective teaching and learning in and out of the classroom.
All members of a school’s workforce contribute to pupils’ standards of achievement, so we want to make sure that support staff have the same opportunities as qualified teaching staff for professional development.
If you work in a supporting role in one of our schools, a vocational qualification will help you develop your knowledge, skills and understanding agains the National Occupational Standards.
The next HLTA programme commences in September 2017.
If you are a teaching assistant, supporting teaching and learning in the classroom, this programme is an excellent professional development opportunity for you.
The programme will help you to prepare a portfolio of evidence to show you’re meeting these standards.
It’s important to note that you should already be meeting higher level standards when you apply for the programme.
